Intro to Quanology

Quanology is born.

Quanology is the convergence of physics, biology, evolution, psychology, systems theory, game theory, and personal development and happiness. Yes, I need to work on my sales pitch. But all of these elements are directed to a better quality of life.

It may not be the first science to devote itself to good living, but we probably are the first to be derived from a lackluster Hollywood film. It’s actually spelled “Kwan” in the film, but I just love the letter “Q”. Makes for a good logo…

But Quanology is really born out of the need to define and encapsulate my interests. Health, fitness, relationships, family life, psychology, personal development, etc (not that I am personally excel in all of these). They’re all these isolated subjects, but they need to be somehow combined. I’m interested in many different aspects of life and science but I see that they all lead to the same thing, so why not study the end goal? It may be one thing to study something, but there should always be a singular reason why we study them. “Why do we do anything in science?” To improve the quality of human life on earth. Some things are more relevant than others (ex. psychology is more relevant than space exploration), and all I really hope to do is act as a filter or good editor. I’m not a scientist and don’t even consider myself to be exceptionally smart. But I have a good perspective and a lot of passion. I hope to bring both of those over to the readers of this site.

“The Kwan”. As the character Rod Tidwell defines it, smells a bit of someone who is a bit insecure and wants some external confirmation. So, I’m not taking over the movie’s definition - it was simply the idea that made me start thinking about my own definition. Quanology is to be a science, but one of a more inductive, “connect the dots”, and copy/paste nature. I don’t imagine doing research, only to draw conclusions and extrapolations on existing research.

Quanology will make a nice contrast between its theory and its application. Theory without an application is pointless and action without a theoretical foundation is stupid. Copyright Quanology 2007! They must be built up together and complement each other - but should also remain separate.

At the time of this writing I’m a little more focused on the theoretical side of things and have thereby split the theory further into 3 levels:

Level 1 - Deals with theoretical concepts on a daily human level. This will include topics like motivation, happiness, love, NLP, relationships, consciousness, perception, belief systems, and psychological patterns.

Level 2 - Deals with theoretical concepts at the level of life, consciousness, and perception. This includes psychology, evolution, biology, physiology, sociology, and anthropology.

Level 3 - Deals with theoretical concepts at the lowest level. This includes physics, game theory, systems theory, mathematics, and statistics.

Having a solid theoretical foundation will allow us to build Quanology into a “Life System” - a complete handbook, if you will, on life and how to live it. This life system will describe what a good life is, as implied by science, and how to go about getting it, using the latest techniques of psychology, NLP, therapy, and the self-help industry.

So, let’s get started. Hope you enjoy.
